Workshops

Up the Déise, is scheduled to be staged at the Theatre Royal Waterford from the 21st to the 24th  October 2026. This is a play about a young Waterford hurling team on their journey to an All-Ireland Inclusive Five-a- Side title, and we hope to cast up to 6 actors with intellectual disabilities in roles as the team players.

To facilitate casting, we are running acting workshops over a 4-6 week period beginning in mid March. These will require a commitment of approximately 1 hour on Saturday mornings for the period, probably kicking of on Saturday 14th March.  Obviously actors who are cast in the play will need to make a much greater commitment for rehearsals etc. from around July to October.

In addition to the time commitment, it would be important to be clear that attendance at the workshops does not guarantee being cast in the play. However, the workshops will be hugely beneficial to anyone with an interest in developing their acting skills, and certificates of attendance will be issued. There will also be opportunities to participate in other aspects of the production, include important roles both back stage and front of house.

If you are interested in attending the workshops, please tell us a little bit about yourself by contacting us at the email below.
